About
Gregory Anderson spent his first 29 years in his home town of Erie, PA, before relocating to Austin, TX in August of 2012. Wexford, PA north of Pittsburgh is where he lives now. He is a self-taught artist; he has loved to paint & draw ‘since early childhood. Greg finds serenity & enrichment in the creative process, so it is there that he focuses much of his time.
Greg has been given a variety of labels; the most accurate is that he has autism. Through hard work he developed strategies to help him make sense of the world around him. His experience is unique & rich. Greg has his own way of holding a paint brush, as mild cerebral palsy especially affects his hands. As he grew, Greg’s developmental challenges influenced his perspective yet never limited it. He mastered adaptive learning techniques and continues to welcome new challenges.
In 2002 Greg began to bring his drawings to canvas. He eventually established a home studio and found opportunities to exhibit publicly. His varied interests – music, film, literature, nature, and people are the subjects of his paintings. The colors & themes that Greg chooses convey his attitude; his portrayal of the world is like him – refreshingly unaffected. He will tell you that he just paints what’s in his heart. These paintings come from the heart. They also come from a place of solitude, from an outsider.
